Aquebogue home among 150 Sandy-damaged properties being auctioned

Screen Shot 2015-11-16 at 11.56.08 AMAn Aquebogue home will be one of over 150 Hurricane Sandy-damaged properties auctioned off Tuesday.

The auction, which will be held in Hauppauge at the Hyatt Regency Long Island, will be the second auction held by the NY Rising program, which runs under the Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery. That department was created in 2013 to “centralize recovery and rebuilding efforts” following destruction in the wake of Sandy three years ago, as well as damage caused by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.

The Aquebogue home set to be sold is located at 15 Locust St. Zillow.com lists it as a two-bedroom, one-bath ranch just under 900 square feet in size.

Bids on all homes at tomorrow’s auction start at $43,000, and interested parties are required to bring a $25,000 certified cashier’s check for each home they wish to purchase.
