SHCops

Southampton police caught two drunk drivers within hours of each other early Sunday in Flanders, according to a police news release.

The first driver was arrested at about 2:11 a.m. when he allegedly crashed into a utility pole on Gilder Avenue in Flanders. Police said 29-year-old Flanders resident Belizario Escobar was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He was charged with two misdemeanors for DWI, as well as traffic violations for driving without a license and failing to stay in his lane.

Mr. Escobar was held overnight to be arraigned in Southampton Town court, police said.

The second arrest occurred at 3:30 a.m. that same night, when Adriana Aquino, 27, of Flanders was arrested on Flanders Road.

Police said Ms. Aquino was stopped for a traffic infraction, but police determined she was driving drunk. Ms. Aquino was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor.

She was arraigned in Southampton Justice Court later that day and released on $500 bail, according to a news release.
