A Flanders man was arrested Thursday afternoon for allegedly breaking into an East Second Street residence and attempting to steal some items, Riverhead Town police said.

Miguel Pacajoj-Tecum, 40, was seen by a neighbor of the residence exiting through a smashed front window carrying items from the house shortly before 1 p.m., police said. The neighbor notified police, who later spotted Mr. Pacajoj-Tecum walking through the Suffolk County National Bank headquarters parking lot.

Police said the items were removed from the residence, which they verified had been burglarized.

Mr. Pacajoj-Tecum was charged with second degree burglary. He is being held overnight at town police headquarters for a Friday morning arraignment.
