Flanders woman killed in Eastport crash Sunday

A Flanders woman was killed following a collision with an SUV that was attempting to make a turn in front of the car she was a passenger in on County Road 51 in Eastport Sunday, Suffolk County police said. 

Blanca Coslaya, 41, of Flanders, was a passenger in a 1990 Toyota Camry that was headed south shortly before 3 p.m. when a northbound 2015 Hyundai Tucson attempted to make a left turn at County Road 111, police said.

Ms. Coslaya was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle she was in, Rudi Ramirez, 22, of Flanders was also transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the other vehicle, Madeline Keane, 51, of Farmingville and her two passengers were transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center where they were also treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety inspection and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this crash to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752
