Southampton blotter: Car stolen from driveway in Flanders

A 27-year-old man was arrested for drunken driving in Riverside last Thursday.

Mynor Zurdoxuya of Riverhead was reportedly seen driving down the middle of Flanders Road at around 3:30 a.m. Police said he smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech, bloodshot and glassy eyes, was unsteady on his feet and performed poorly on standard field sobriety tests.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and a pair of violations.

• Police arrested a Riverside man for drunken driving in Flanders last Wednesday.

Julio Colon, 46, was reportedly unable to stay in his lane on Flanders Road at around 2:55 a.m. and was driving a car without a license plate lamp. Police said he allegedly smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech, bloodshot and glassy eyes and was unsteady on his feet. He performed poorly on standard field sobriety tests, police said.

Mr. Colon was charged with DWI and second-degree unlicensed operation, both misdemeanors, and numerous traffic violations.

Mr. Colon pleaded guilty to DWAI, reduced from DWI, in August 2014 according to a prior News-Review article.

• A blue sedan reportedly was removed from a Suffolk Avenue driveway in Flanders on Thursday around 1:20 p.m. The complainant believes she knows who removed the car, but no arrest has been made, police said.

• A Hudson River Health Care employee reported that items were removed from her purse around 5:40 p.m. last Wednesday. Items included $50 cash, her license, wallet, credit card, medical card and Social Security card.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
