Riverhead Town police arrested the woman who allegedly stunned a Target employee with a Taser on Christmas Eve.

Victoria Deon, 33, was arrested at 7:18 p.m. Sunday evening after allegedly stealing items from the Walmart on Route 58, police said. She was charged with petit larceny for the Walmart incident, and assault and petit larceny, both misdemeanors, for the earlier Target incident, police said.

She was arraigned in Riverhead Town Justice Court Monday morning and was moved to Suffolk County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.

The Target incident occurred at about 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve when she allegedly tried to shoplift and an employee attempted to detain her. Police said she used the taser on the employee to break free and fled toward Route 58. Police were quickly able to identify her as the suspect but could not immediately track her down.

She remained at large for more than two weeks until Sunday’s arrest.
