Cops: Wading River gas station robbed at gunpoint during storm

Riverhead Town police are searching for the suspect in an alleged armed robbery that occurred Saturday night at the Valero gas station in Wading River. 

Police said an unknown man entered the store, produced a handgun and demanded money from an employee of the station at 9:30 p.m. The man then took off by foot with an undetermined amount of cash, said police, who did not provide a description of the suspect in a press release issued several hours later.

The station had previously been robbed in both January and February 2015.

Anyone with information on Saturday’s robbery, which occurred on the tail end of a major winter storm that dropped nearly two feet of snow on the area, is asked to call police at 631-727-4500. All calls will be kept confidential.
