Christine “Chrissy” Anne Pierro Galasso of Aquebogue passed away Jan. 31, 2016, surrounded by her family, after bravely battling cancer. She was 56.

Chrissy was born July 9, 1959, in Brooklyn to Michael and Anne (Gram) Pierro. She attended Mercy High School, before graduating Riverhead High School. During that time, she met Alex Galasso. Alex and Chrissy were married for 38 years.

In 1984, she helped establish Arline’s Boateak & Ski Haus with her brother-in-law, Andrew Galasso. Alex and Chrissy, owners of Lighthouse Marina in Aquebogue, worked alongside each other for over 25 years.

Chrissy was very devoted to the community; she generously supported many local charities. She thoroughly enjoyed her work with the Riverhead Rotary specifically helping with the Toys for Tots program. She walked their mission statement, “Service Above Self” in her everyday life.

Chrissy is survived by her beloved husband, Alex; her children: Christie, Jaqueline and Alexander; her sister Caroline (Al) Hubbard; brothers- and sisters-in-law; many nieces (including Peggy Burkhard) and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; cousins; Alex’s parents: Arline and Larry Galasso, and many extended family and close friends.

Services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 3, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday Feb. 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service and mass will take place on Friday, Feb. 5th at 9:30am at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment will follow at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church Cemetery in Riverhead.

Chrissy will be sadly missed by all. She will be remembered for her giving spirit, loving heart and the happiness she brought to so many people.

Donations in Chrissy’s memory can be made to one of the charities (St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Wounded Warriors or St. Francis Breadline) that Chrissy was a huge advocate of, or one of your choice.
