Frances B. Horton

Frances B. Horton of Cutchogue died on Jan. 29, 2016, at San Simeon by the Sound in Greenport. She was 93. 
She was born on March 23, 1922, in Greenport to Jennie (Mosesky) and Frank Salter and was a graduate of Greenport High School

In June of 1944, she married Richard L. Horton, Sr. at St. Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport and together they made their home in Greenport. For the past 62 years, she was a resident of Cutchogue.

In earlier years, she worked for Bohack and later sold plants for Walter Teresko. She was always a devoted homemaker.

Frances was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Cutchogue and was a member of the Sacred Heart Mothers Club.

Predeceased by her husband Richard L. Horton, Sr. in 1992, she leaves five children, Frances B. Lindsay (William) of Mattituck, Janet E. Raymond of Orient, Richard L. Horton, Jr. (Debra) of Cutchogue, Timothy P. Horton (Susan MacKenzie) of Cutchogue and Deborah A. Lutkowski (Andrew) of Southold and thirteen grandchildren: Jennifer R. Raymond, Veronica E. (Raymond) Witt, Richard N. Horton, Dawn Horton Borges, Dennis Horton, Nicholas Horton, Susan (Horton) Bowen, Patricia Horton, William P. Lindsay, Lisa Lindsay, Wayne Lindsay, Michael Lindsay and Matthew Lindsay and 18 great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by seven siblings, Frank Salter, Antone Salter, Stanley Salter, Joseph Salter, Helen Charters, Ann Gagen and Josephine T. Salter.

The family received visitors Monday, Feb. 1, at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck where parish prayer services were held. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, February 2, at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church by Monsignor John Nosser with the assistance of the Ministry of Consolation. Interment took place at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery in Cutchogue.
