Southampton Blotter: Woman nabbed on drug charges in Riverside

Southampton Town police arrested a 21-year-old woman on drug charges in Riverside last Thursday.

Meghan MacFarlane of Southampton was reportedly stopped on Route 104 at around 4:55 p.m. for an illegal window tint. Police allegedly smelled marijuana coming from the car and Ms. MacFarlane reportedly said she had a grinder in the car. During a search of the car police found a micro Ziploc bag with powder cocaine in the sunglass compartment and a small rubber container of concentrated cannabis in a bag in the trunk of the car, officials said.

Ms. MacFarlane was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and a traffic violation.

• A Calverton man was arrested for driving without a license in Riverside Feb. 1.

Carl Vosen, 23, was reportedly headed westbound on Flanders Road near the traffic circle at around 12:10 a.m. when he was pulled over for having an inadequate muffler and a non-functioning rear plate lamp. Police then learned that his driver’s license was allegedly suspended.

He was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.

• Police arrested a 24-year-old woman for driving with a suspended license in Riverside Feb. 1.

Tiara Ferebee of Riverhead was allegedly driving down the center turn lane to pass stopped traffic on Flanders Road near McDonald’s at around 6:35 a.m., when she was pulled over, police said.

Ms. Ferebee was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and two traffic violations.

• An Oakdale man was arrested for driving with a suspended license in Northampton last Wednesday.

Thomas Vaughan, 31, was reportedly stopped for an equipment violation near Lake Avenue and Lakeview Drive at around 4:15 p.m. Police learned that he had his license suspended three times and didn’t have insurance, officials said.

He was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and multiple traffic violations.

• Police arrested a Riverhead man for driving without a license in Shinnecock Hills last Thursday.

Israel Alvarado, 41, was reportedly stopped for speeding on Sunrise Highway at around 10:05 p.m. Police said he did not own a valid driver’s license.

He was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and two traffic violations.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
