Richard Winters Terry Sr.

Richard Winters Terry Sr., age 85, passed away Feb. 21, 2016, at Stony Brook University Medical Center. 

He was born Dec. 19, 1930, to William L. Terry and Jeanette (Gassert) Terry in Riverhead. He was a graduate of Riverhead High School. He worked as a manager for Lebanon Chemical Corporation in Jamesport.

Richard was an outdoorsman who loved camping, fishing, canoeing and his dogs and was a member of the Mattituck Gun Club. He loved to spend time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Carol (née McKenney) and his beloved children Donna Terry, Linda (David) Fedun and Richard (Irene) Terry. He was the devoted grandfather of four and great-grandfather of one. He was predeceased by his brother George Terry in 1979.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday, Feb. 24, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Sean B. Murray of First Congregational Church of Riverhead. Cremation will be private.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to First Congregational Church of Riverhead, 103 First St. Riverhead, NY 11901.
