Three people escaped uninjured after a second-story bedroom caught fire in a Raynor Avenue home late Tuesday afternoon, Riverhead Fire Department officials said.

The homeowner also managed to leash the dog in the house and successfully pull it to safety, officials said. The home sustained “minimal damage,” officials said.

The Riverhead Fire Department responded shortly after 5 p.m. and quickly contained the fire, which is now under investigation by the Riverhead fire marshal.

Raynor Avenue was briefly closed northbound to Osborn Avenue while fire crews were on scene.
