Calverton News: Another round of happy birthdays

Here’s some good news! Spring will arrive on March 20.

Did you know that this spring will arrive earlier than any other since 1896? It’s all due to the leap years. That said, daylight-saving time begins Sunday, March 13, when we spring forward one hour. Let’s just hope it stays nice and warm so we can all go outside after work.

The Riverhead High School Blue Masques will present “Shrek” on Friday, April 8, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, April 9, at 2 and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, April 10, at 2 p.m. For tickets, call 631-369-6741. Go and see these talented actors; they’re awesome.

Another sign of spring is the grand reopening of Baiting Hollow Congregational Church’s thrift shop on Thursday, March 17, at 10 a.m. Hours are Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donations of gently used clothing and household items would be appreciated. It’s an awesome store with awesome people who run it.

A baby shower was held recently for Davi Shore. About 30 friends and family members helped her celebrate. Davi and her husband are expecting their first child at the end of April. Best of luck to you! I can’t wait!

Sara Hodun and Tony Collinsworth are now engaged. We are so happy for the both of you and wish you many years of love and happiness.

Belated happy birthday to Calverton resident Walter Hodun, who celebrated March 1. We hope you had a great day, Walter. Calverton resident Chris Herbst also celebrated a birthday recently. Hope your day was very special!

Happy birthday to Diane Barba, who will celebrate today, March 10. We hope you have a great day. Happy 1st birthday on the 11th to Tanner Scott, who will celebrate with a fun kids’ party this weekend and a family party a bit later on. Your mommy and daddy, brothers and daycare kids wish you a happy day! Wishes also go out to Dianna Yakaboski on the 13th. Have a nice day and do something special for yourself. My nephew Kevin Pelis will celebrate on the 18th. We hope you have a great day, sweetie!

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! May it be a fun day, filled with green and fun stuff.

That’s all for this week. Be safe, take care and I’ll talk to you next time. Bye.
