Robert A. Harrison Sr.

Robert A. Harrison Sr., age 78, of Riverhead, passed away March 9, 2016, at home in Riverhead.

He was born Sept. 14, 1937, in Southampton to Arthur Harrison and Muriel Warner.

Robert worked as a truck driver for Union 174 out of New Jersey. He served as a reservist in the Air National Guard.

Robert  was a member of the Riverhead Moose for 50 years, and played softball and bowled for the Moose. He was a sports fanatic and loved the Notre Dame football team. He raced at Riverhead Raceway during the 1950’s and 60’s.

Robert was an avid outdoors man enjoying hunting, fishing, crabbing and camping. He was also skilled at the art of handcrafting decoys.

Robert is survived by his loving sons, Robert (Dariel) Harrison Jr., Ralph (Kathy) Rogers; his daughter Kathy (Curtis) Trent and son Ron (Susan) Harrison. He was the devoted grandfather of Danielle (Anthony), Curtis, Robby, Caroline, Steven and Marisa, great-grandfather of four; uncle to one nephew and five nieces; the dear brother of Paul Harrison and Betty Harrison-Sabo; stepfather of Donna Watkins and beloved friend to his caretaker, Lee Preston. Also surviving is his first wife, Judith Staib-Harrison. He was predeceased by his second wife, Carol Rogers Harrison, his third wife, Delores Watkins, stepmother, Elsie Harrison and brother,Arthur Paul Harrison.

Visitation for Robert will be Sunday, March 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 14, at the funeral home, with Pastor Charles Byer of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Aquebogue officiating. Interment will follow at Riverhead Cemetery.
