Recap: Board to vote on term limits, Alive on 25, rail spur grant

The Riverhead Town Board is expected to vote on 12-year term limits for Town Board members and scheduling a public referendum on extending the term of the supervisor from two years to four at its meeting Tuesday night. 

Other items on the agenda include a public hearing on a $7.5 million upgrade of the Calverton Sewer District; a vote to authorize an application for a federal grant to enhance the Calverton freight rail spur; a resolution to authorize the town to co-sponsor the “Alive on 25” events planned for Thursdays in July and August in downtown Riverhead; a vote to authorize settlements in two lawsuits filed by cell phone companies; and a vote to support the county’s proposed purchase of 9.71 acres slated for development along Main Road in Jamesport.
