A Riverhead High School graduate was sent to a hospital yesterday after he apparently lost control of his vehicle in Farmingville and struck a tree around 10 a.m.

According to Suffolk County Police, 30-year-old John Moretti was driving a 2006 BMW eastbound on Horseblock Road when he crossed over the westbound lanes and struck a fence.

Police said the Oakwood Drive resident — who graduated RHS in 2004 — was transported by Farmingville Rescue to Stony Brook University, where he was placed in critical condition.

As of Friday morning, SBU did not have anyone under the name John Moretti in their system, so his current status is unclear.

Police said Mr. Moretti’s car was impounded for a safety check and an investigation of the crash is ongoing. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the Sixth Squad to 854-8652.
