Cops: 911 calls alert police to drunk driver

An erratic driver was arrested for aggravated DWI Monday after police received several 911 calls warning of a potentially dangerous situation, Southampton Town police said.

Fredy Giron, 31, of Flanders was driving north on Flanders Road from Hampton Bays when police received the calls at about 8:52 a.m. Police stopped his vehicle and Mr. Giron was found to be intoxicated, police said.

He was charged with DWI in addition to the aggravated DWI charge, both misdemeanors, and multiple traffic violations, including for open alcohol in a motor vehicle, police said.

He was arraigned at Southampton Town Justice Court and remanded to Suffolk County Jail in lieu of $1,500 bail, police said.
