Wading River news: Chinese auction raises $42K for cancer walk
A stylishly smooth gentleman caught my eye recently, rolling by my line of vision at Shoreham Plaza. I caught up with Robbie Musiello, a SWR high school graduate (Class of 2013), who was skateboarding. I had commented that I regretted not learning to skateboard because I thought it was “a really cool way to roll.” Robbie agreed, saying it was his mode of transportation of choice. He’s good at it, too! He was traveling fast and even threw in a trick or two. It was nice meeting you, Robbie. Let us know all the places your skateboarding adventures take you. Safe journeys to you!

Jen Gebbia of Wading River Deli has once again been part of the movement to support cancer patients. On May 6 at East Wind in Wading River, she and a team of 14 other women held a chinese auction that raised over $42,000 for the LI2Day Walk, to be held June 11. Jen said the auction was a success, “with all local people, with donations from only local businesses.” Thanks to all who supported this great cause. Congratulations, Jen!

Jim Lynch of First Student in Shoreham is a military veteran and American Legion member who places flags on the graves at Calverton National Cemetery for the Memorial Day holiday. He gathers volunteers from the bus company and, with buses donated by First Student, takes a group with him to mark each soldier’s grave with our nation’s colors. The effort takes two days and this year will begin on May 28. The flags will then be removed June 4. Thank you, Jim, and thanks to all those at First Student who help Jim in this silent effort that speaks volumes. God bless all our veterans and may the deceased members of our armed forces rest in peace.
