Cops: Hispanic man assaulted, robbed in Riverhead

Riverhead Town police are searching for three suspects who reportedly assaulted and robbed a 22-year-old Hispanic man Monday night in Riverhead, according to a press release.

Police were called around 7:45 p.m. to the railroad tracks between the rear of the Department of Social Services building and the East Main Street crossing at Riverside Drive where the victim was found, officials said.

The victim told police he was assaulted by three black males and robbed of a backpack and $20, officials said. He reported the suspects fled on foot, police said.

Police said the victim was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center, treated for his injuries and released.
