One person was airlifted to the hospital following a collision Thursday afternoon on Sound Avenue in Riverhead, authorities at the scene said.

The driver of a Ford sedan, who was traveling with two passengers, was heading westbound around 5 p.m.when he crossed the double-yellow line and crashed into a Mudd Vineyard of Southold truck carrying a tractor near Horton Avenue, Riverhead Town police said.

Police said three men were traveling in the sedan. The backseat passenger suffered a laceration below his knee and was airlifted to Stony Brook Hospital for treatment of “serious but nonlife-threatening injuries,” police said.

The driver was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for minor injuries, police said.

The front passenger of the sedan, as well as the truck driver, weren’t injured, police said.

Police said no charges have been made.

As of 5:30 p.m., a portion of Sound Avenue was closed during the rescue efforts.
