Margret Ried

Longtime Riverhead resident Margret Ried died May 27 at her home. She was 76. 

The daughter of Karl and Adele Klocker, she was born April 19, 1940, in Germany.

Ms. Ried worked as a bookkeeper for Cheshire Electric. Her husband Walter, who predeceased her in 2001, previously worked for Times Review Media Group.

Family members said she enjoyed gardening and painting.

In addition to her husband, Ms. Ried was also predeceased by her daughter, Charlotte “Lottie” in 2008. She is survived by her son, Michael, of East Quogue and one grandchild.

Cremation was private.

Arrangements were in the care of McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead.
