Aquebogue News: Jamesport Meeting House benefit event

I want to personally wish the Corwin family a big congratulations on the birth of their third daughter. Awesome mom, Jasmine Corwin, informed me that baby Elsie Marie Corwin arrived early on May 18. She will now join in the Corwin family celebrations of May birthdays. Welcome to the world, Elsie Marie, and congratulations to the entire Corwin family. God bless you.

An important event is coming up in our local community. Please join the Jamesport-South Jamesport Civic Association’s benefit for the Jamesport Meeting House on Friday, June 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. This wonderful local historic landmark needs our financial help as it moves forward with plans to create a new “comfort facility” that meets the needs of visitors. The Meeting House is a beautiful building filled with community spirit that spans generations. Tickets are $35 per person and include wine, water, soft drinks and hors d’oeuvres. There will also be raffle baskets and a 50/50 to help support this cause. Tickets can be purchased at jamesportmeetinghouse.org. If you are unable to attend but would like to donate, you can do so online. For more information or to donate a raffle basket, email Angela DeVito at [email protected].

Registration is now open for kids’ camp at Living Water Church, to be held June 27 to July 1. The camp is free and open to children ages 4-12 and includes music, crafts, theater, recreation and snacks. I have witnessed firsthand how hard the volunteers work to make it a fun and safe adventure for all. Register online at lwfgc.org/kidscampregistration/ or call the church at 631-722-4969 for more information.

In my previous column I talked about summer camps at Hallockville Museum Farm. I’m not sure how many openings remain but you can find out by visiting hallockville.com or calling 631-298-5292. The camps, which are open to children ages 3-13, are co-sponsored by the Peconic Community School.

Save the date for Old Steeple Community Church’s chicken barbecue July 9, which will be here before you know it. Details to follow.

I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. I guess we are skipping spring this year as the weather is beginning to feel like summer. Have a beautiful week!
