Barth’s Pharmacy — with drive-up window — opens in Jamesport

A new pharmacy with a familiar name to the East End has opened on Main Road in Jamesport.

Barth’s Pharmacy, which is owned by Lou Cassara of Westhampton, is located at the former Capital One bank and officially opened its doors — and drive-up window — last Thursday.

Mr. Cassara said he tried to preserve the bank’s interior, but wasn’t able to keep the original counter.

“We tried to keep the bank look, but we couldn’t fit all of it,” he said about the floor plan. “It just didn’t blend.”

He was, however, able to utilize the drive-up window for prescription pickups.

Mr. Cassara is also the owner of Barth’s Pharmacy locations in East Moriches and East Quogue, which he opened after purchasing the Westhampton store and the Barth’s Pharmacy name from Barry Barth in 2004.

He is not the owner of the Barth’s Drug Store in Riverhead, which was taken over in January by Bhaskar “Bobby” Gunjupali of Manorville following the retirement of Mr. Barth.

Not one Barth’s location is owned by someone in the Barth family for the first time in 98 years.

Mr. Cassara said he’s excited about opening a new location in Jamesport.

“I’m feeling confident that this very well could be the best store,” he said.
