Former Riverhead resident Constance E. Smith of Canton, Texas died June 27, 2016, at the age of 75.
She was born Feb. 22, 1941, to Frank and Wanda Cybulski Perkowski. She attended Riverhead High School and was known as Connie to all her friends and family.
Connie married Phillip R. Smith of Huntington, W.Va. Sept. 27, 1958, at St. John the Evangelist R.C. church in Riverhead.
After her husband retired from the U.S. Air Force and worked for Verizon Telephone, she worked at and retired from Kmart department store in Dallas, Texas.
In her spare time, Connie loved arts and crafts when she wasn’t keeping in touch with her friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Gloria Perkowski Brown and Pauline Woschnik; her husband Phillip R. Smith and her grandson, Phillip R. Smith, III (age 6), who was her pride and joy.
She is survived by her son, Phillip R. Smith, Jr. and his wife Linda Smith of Canton; her daughter Diane E. Smith of Lancaster, Texas; granddaughter Janis Wilbert of Dallas, Texas, Janis’ husband Peter and their two daughters Allison and Emma, as well as her brother Allen Perkowski, sister Marion Kruk and nieces and nephews.
Place of internment was at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton, where she requested private services.
