Recap: More drive-in movies coming to Riverhead Raceway
The Riverhead Town Board on Tuesday approved two additional drive-in movie events planned for this summer at Riverhead Raceway, which was previously approved for only two, one of which was rained out.
The board approved movie dates for July 8 and 15 Tuesday, and will consider others in the future. Riverhead Raceway originally applied for 10 drive-in movie dates this summer.
The movies are shown on a portable screen on the raceway, with sound transmitted through an AM/FM transmitter through viewers’ car radios.
They will be shown on Friday nights at 6 p.m.
In addition, the Town Board approved a number of special event permits, including Family Fun Day at First Baptist Church on July 30; Jamesport Fire Department’s parade, carnival and fireworks show July 13-16; Country Festival at the 4H Camp July 29-30; and Riverhead Free Library’s 120th birthday celebration July 23.
