Jamesport Fire Department kicked off its 61st annual carnival with a parade down Main Road from Washington Avenue to the fire station on Manor Lane Wednesday night.

The parade’s grand marshal was charter member Stanley Zaweski. Firefighter of the year Dan Doroski, 60-year member Dan Kaelin and 50-year members Ray Janis and Charlie Cichanowicz were also honored and escorted in convertibles, followed by Chief John Andrejack and department members. Volunteer fire department members and trucks along with volunteer ambulance corps members from both the North and South Fork followed.

The carnival continues through Saturday. The carnival runs from 6 to 11 p.m. each night and is extended from 5 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, when a fireworks display caps off the festivities. The carnival features food and beverage booths, games, souvenirs and more.
