Hallockville Museum Farm’s annual Barn Dance is this Saturday, July 30, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Enjoy live traditional music and learn dance steps from caller Chart Guthrie in the historic Naugles Barn. No experience needed. All ages are invited to this summer tradition and annual fundraiser for the not-for-profit museum. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Admission is $25 for ages 12 and up; $5 for ages 5-11; free for ages 4 and under. For advance admission, visit hallockville.com/event/annual-barn-dance/ or call 631-298-5292 for more information. The event is rain or shine.

Tickets for ‘Wine and Noses, North Fork,’ a local fundraiser for Canine Companions for Independence, are selling quickly. CCI (cci.org) has a strong showing of volunteer puppy raisers and graduate teams on the North Fork, especially in Riverhead. This wonderful organization pairs highly trained assistance dogs with veterans and other people with disabilities.

Please join us at this great local event and in welcoming our newest CCI puppy, Vinny, to the North Fork. Vinny is the sixth puppy that we have raised for CCI. He’s an adorable golden/lab cross who is the son of our prior puppy, a full golden named Moats. Moats was selected to be a breeder and moved to California, where he is cared for by a loving CCI family. We are excited to raise one of the first puppies sired by Moats. I know it sounds crazy, but my husband and I feel like we are grandparents!

You can meet Vinny and other CCI puppies and graduate dogs at “Wine and Noses, North Fork” at Castello di Borghese Vineyard on Saturday, Aug. 6. Tickets are $75 and includes a glass of wine, gourmet food from Christopher Michael Catering and Lombardi’s Love Lane Market, live music, raffles and presentations from our CCI volunteer and graduate teams. To purchase tickets online, visit cci.org/2016NFWine or http://bit.ly/2a1SWC3. To purchase a ticket from me or to donate a raffle, please contact me at 631-833-1897 or [email protected].

The Antique Show at Old Steeple Church is an end-of-summer tradition on the North Fork. This year it is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 27, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For tickets, call the church at 631-722-3070 or contact Jean at 631-722-4131; [email protected].

Once again, I’d like to remind you to sign up and save the date — Sunday, Aug. 28 — for Jamesport Fire Department’s 18th annual Sound to Bay 10K/5K Run. I am going to walk this one at a very fast pace, pushing Johanna in her wheelchair. Even though I walk two miles most days, I definitely need to step it up before August. Join me and your neighbors, as well as visitors from all over the U.S., for this great local run. For more information and to sign up, visit https://jfd10krun.com.
