Free movie night at Wading River Beach Aug. 12

Nemo

Now playing at Wading River Beach: “Finding Nemo.”

Riverhead Town residents can watch the Disney-Pixar animated comedy at approximately 8:30 p.m. Aug. 12 as part of the Recreation Department’s “Movies at the Beach” program. The event is free for the community.

The movie will be shown on a 14-by-26 foot outdoor screen at Wading River beach located at Sound and Creek Roads. Parking restrictions in the town’s beach parking lot will be lifted for movie-goers, the town announced.

“I am happy that we are able to offer this free special event on the west end of town in Wading River again this year,” said Riverhead Supervisor Sean Walter in a statement. “Residents of all ages are welcome to come spend an evening under the stars on our beach to watch this family-friendly movie and to spend some quality time with their children, family and neighbors.”

Children under 18 should accompanied by an adult.

Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets as well insect repellent. The Recreation Department will have a concession stand with popcorn and refreshments.

Arrive early for the best location to view the film, the town said. For more information, contact the Recreation Department at 631-727-5744.

Last year’s movie at Wading River Beach was “Surf’s Up.” The town recently approved additional drive-in movie nights at Riverhead Raceway that are held on Friday nights.
