Kenneth H. Doppel

Once there was a boy who wanted to play in a rock and roll band. This Kenny did most of his life and loved every minute of it. 

Kenneth H. “Kenny” Doppel of Calverton died Aug. 7, 2016, at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore. He was 62.

Kenny was born March 3, 1954, in Jamaica, Queens. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Old Westbury College, where he majored in psychology and political science.

Kenny worked at various schools with disabled adults and was a program coordinator for East End Disability Associates.

He leaves behind his mother and father, Arline (Weiss) and Howard Doppel; his sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Thomas Winter; and two nieces, Maureen Bennett and Elizabeth Winter.

The family will receive visitors Friday, Aug. 12, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead, where a funeral service will take place at 8 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Charles Beyer of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Aquebogue. Cremation will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to The Salvation Army.

He will be missed by his many friends and bandmates. You left us too soon. We love you, Kenny. Play on!
