Joan McNamee

Joan McNamee of Southold and formerly of Orient died Aug. 13, 2016, at Kanas Center for Hospice Care in Quiogue at the age of 82.

She was born Nov. 9, 1933, in Flushing to Adolph and Anna Usewicz.

On May 16, 1953, she married John T. “Mac” McNamee.

Predeceased by her husband of 51 years on June 24, 2004; she is survived by six children, Barbara Omaggio of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Betty Wood of Aquebogue, Nancy Fregosi of Massapequa, Mary Ellen Erdman of Southold, Jean McCoy of Center Moriches and James McNamee of Flushing; two brothers, Robert Usewicz of Williston Park, N.Y. and Richard Usewicz of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; grandchildren Shannon, Heather, Chris, Tommy, Michael, Kerri, Kara, Kevin, Melissa, Megan, Emily, Katherine, Danny, Kelly, Sara, Stephen, Suzanne and Sabrina and great-grandchildren Seamus, Kaylie, Ashley, Skylar, C.J., Ben, Lyla, Tommy, Samantha, Matthew, Ricky, Tyler and Calvin.

The family will receive visitors Monday, Aug. 15, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16 at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church in Southold. Interment will follow at the Calverton National Cemetery.
