Martin Albanese

Riverhead resident Martin Albanese, formerly a longtime resident of Hampton Bays, died Aug. 31 at his home. He was 72. 

The son of Victor and Rose Albanese, he was born Feb. 20, 1944, in Manhattan.

Mr. Albanese served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. He worked as a route salesman for Pepsi and driver-technician for Medenhall Fuel.

Family members said Mr. Albanese enjoyed golfing and being in a bowling league at Wildwood Lanes.

Mr. Albanese is survived by his wife, Lucille, of Riverhead; his children, Peter, of Boston and Gina, of Manhattan; his sisters, Marie Stuppiello and Tina Wiebke and two grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Thursday, Sept. 1, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will take place at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
