Police launch ‘School’s Open — Drive Carefully’ campaign

The Riverhead Town Police Department is promoting AAA Northeast’s 71st annual campaign to remind drivers to use extra caution during back to school.

Drivers are also asked to be prepared to stop on both sides of the street for school buses with flashing red lights and drive at or below posted school-zone speed limits.

During this campaign, AAA distributes nearly 4,400 posters at major intersections, businesses, shopping districts and school crossings to remind motorists to be extra careful.

AAA Northeast is a not-for-profit auto club that provides over 5.2 million members with travel, insurance, finance and auto-related services.
