Calverton News: Another round of happy birthdays

Happy September! I hope everyone had a nice Labor Day weekend. The nice, cool weather has made me a happy camper. However, I’m not quite ready yet for pumpkins.

Baiting Hollow Congregational Church will host its annual fall yard sale Saturday, Sept. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be approximately 60 vendors with all kinds of good stuff. Also for sale will be bagels, rolls, coffee, soda and hot dogs with all the fixings, and baked goods. Stop by and you’ll find some great bargains.

The church will also be hosting its third annual car show Sunday, Sept. 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be vendors, food, a 50/50 raffle, a chinese auction, and trophies will be awarded. Head on over to the church and enjoy another fun event.

A very special welcome to Dixie, one of several dogs from Thailand that arrived at JFK Airport last Saturday night. Thanks to the Soi Dog Foundation, a not-for-profit organization in Thailand that rescues animals, Dixie is safe and sound at Kent Animal Shelter. With chillier weather approaching, Kent can use donations of blankets, towels and sheets. Drop them off anytime.

Happy birthday this week to Paul Ceberek, who will celebrate Sept. 11, from your wife, your little munchkins, your family and friends. We hope you have a great day, Paul!

My granddaughter, Julia, started school Friday at Riley Avenue Elementary with a big smile on her face. I love you, honey!

Best of luck to everybody starting school. Have a great year!

That’s all for this week. Be safe, enjoy, and I’ll talk to you soon. Take care. Bye.
