Mrs. Norma Lee “Norm” Hagler (née Bell) died Thursday, Aug. 25, in Charlotte, N.C., at the age of 87.
Norm is survived by her husband, Howard; her children, Dan, Matt, David and Jane and her grandchildren, Tyler, Max, Shaye, Kylie, Claire, Jack, Molly, Michael and Alyssa. She was preceded in death by her brother, Karl Bell, and sister, Jean Brooks.
Norm was born April 8, 1929, in Fairborn, Ohio, to Cecil and Birdella Bell. She attended Wittenberg University and taught first grade for several years. She married Howard Hagler, the love of her life, in 1954.
Norm was an accomplished athlete in her youth, participating in inter-club golf tournaments in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., area during their residence there. She was an abstract artist and her oil paintings still hang in the homes of her family members.
Norm was a loving, devoted wife and mother, and was always the life of the party.
A private celebration to honor her life is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 9, at Cypress of Charlotte.
