Family and friends said goodbye to Kathleen “Kay” Troyan after she passed away Sept. 10 after a short illness.

Kay worked at New York Telephone Company for many years, and retired from there. She enjoyed her retirement to the fullest.

Kay raised orchids in her pride and joy greenhouse, which was always filled with blooming flowers, especially during the winter months.

Kay and her husband Paul, who passed away a few years ago, traveled all over the country together and sailed many cruises. Both of them loved to travel and they made many new friends on their trips.

Kay leaves behind two daughters, Cheryl Troyan Pelis, and Linda White; three grandchildren, Jamie Pelis, Rob Pelis and Holly White and two great grandchildren, Julia and Aiden Pelis.

Services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead. A prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the funeral home

Donations to Kent Animal Shelter in Kay’s name would be welcomed.
