Southampton Blotter: Man gave police false name at traffic stop

A Westhampton Beach man was arrested early Dec. 18 after giving police a false name at a traffic stop in Flanders, Southampton Town police said.

Basilio Lux, 37, was stopped for a traffic infraction at 2:20 a.m. on Wood Trail in Flanders and gave a false name to avoid paying tickets, according to police.

He was charged with false personation, a misdemeanor, and held overnight at police headquarters for a Sunday morning arraignment, police said.

• A Flanders man was arrested Dec. 17 in Riverhead on a drunken driving charge, according to New York State police.

John Kolakowski, 26, was stopped for failing to signal and stay within his lane on Riverside Avenue, officials said.

He was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and released on a traffic ticket to return to court at a later date, police said.

• A Flanders man was charged with drunken driving Dec. 17, New York State police said.

Gregory Powell, 53, was driving on Flanders Road in Flanders and he was pulled over after he failed to stay within his lane, officials said.

He was charged with misdemeanor DWI and held for arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court the next morning, police said.

• An Amityville woman was caught driving with a suspended license in Flanders last Monday, Southampton Town police said.

Maria Bonilla, 41, was stopped around 10 a.m. on Flanders Road after license plate recognition cameras alerted police that her registration had been suspended, officials said.

She was arrested and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, officials said.

• A Riverhead woman was caught driving with a suspended license in Riverside last Monday, police said.

Amanda Fers, 32, was stopped for speeding around 10:30 a.m. near Nugent and Center drives, officials said.

She was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and a violation, officials said.

• A Mastic woman was caught driving with a suspended license in Riverside last Tuesday, police said.

Rejina Cousin, 29, was stopped near Lake Avenue and Pegs Lane around 3:35 p.m., police said.

She was arrested and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and two violations, officials said.

• A Riverside man was caught driving with a suspended license last Thursday, police said.

Ramon Xajap-Xuya, 37, was pulled over for a violation at around 5:30 p.m. on Lake Avenue in Riverside, officials said.

He was arrested and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and three violations, police said.

• A Flanders woman was caught driving with a suspended license in Riverside Dec. 18.

Latece Pollard, 26, was stopped for a violation at around 8:40 p.m. near Flanders Road and Riverside Avenue, officials said.

She was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, and a violation, officials said.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
