Rose L. Forgione

Rose L. Forgione of Riverhead died Jan. 15 at New York University Medical Center. She was 85. 

The daughter of Gerard and Mary Caira, she was born Dec. 29, 1931, in Queens, where she attended Bayside High School.

Ms. Forgione was a member of the North Fork Italian-American Club and the Red Hat Society.

Family members said she was a mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with family and had “golden hands” at crafts, sewing and cooking.

Predeceased by her husband, Joseph, in 2015, she is survived by her children, Joseph, of Massapequa Park, Jana Kolsen of Garden City and John, of California; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Tuesday, Jan. 17, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead. Cremation will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
