Riverhead school board incumbent won’t seek re-election

Riverhead school board member Kimberly Ligon confirmed Thursday she won’t seek re-election in this year’s race.

Ms. Ligon, who was first elected to the school board in 2011, said in an email she’s decided not to run for another three-year term. She didn’t immediately provide further comment.

Her seat is up for grabs along with those of incumbents Greg Meyer and Chris Dorr.

Both Mr. Meyer and Mr. Dorr confirmed Thursday they plan to seek re-election.

Mr. Meyer has served on the school board since 2008 and Mr. Dorr was first elected in 2013.

The deadline to submit petitions for the school board election is April 17 at 5 p.m.
