Photos: Riverhead Blue Masques present ‘Hairspray’

Riverhead High School’s Blue Masques will present the musical “Hairspray” Friday to Sunday, March 31 to April 2, in the school’s Charles Cardona Auditorium at 700 Harrison Ave. Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with 2 p.m. matinees on Saturday and Sunday.

The musical is set in 1962 Baltimore and takes on the issues of self-image and racial integration through the characters of Tracy Turnblad, her mother Edna, Tracy’s high school friends and the cast of a popular TV dance show. The show is based on John Waters’ 1988 film of the same name.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door, $5 for senior citizens and free for RHS students with ID. Advance tickets may be purchased at brownpapertickets.com.
