Cops: Man robbed of money, cell phone early Sunday morning

A 26-year-old man was reportedly robbed early Sunday morning after asking two men for a ride, Riverhead Town police said.

Police responded at about 2:12 a.m. to a disturbance on Ostrander Avenue, north of Corwin Street and found the victim had reportedly been robbed of $25, an iPhone 5, debit card and two credit cards, police said. The victim told police he had asked the two suspects for a ride when he was robbed.

The suspects, described only as two black men, fled in a Caprice or Crown Victoria north on Ostrander Avenue, police said. The victim was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were not life threatening and then released, police said.
