Gus Cappetta

Gus Cappetta of Riverhead died April 16 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. He was 88. 

The son of Samuel and Josephine Cappetta, he was born March 28, 1929, in Brooklyn.

Mr. Cappetta served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he received two bronze service stars. He was a member of the American Legion Post 94 in Babylon.

He was the owner and operator at Cappetta’s Barber Shop in West Babylon.

Predeceased by his wife, Rosemarie Eve (née DeNicola) in 2006 and his son Nicholas, Mr. Cappetta is survived by his daughters, Jeanine Cappetta, Rosemarie Doherty and Susan Merkle; son Vincent; brother, Thomas; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and his fiancée, Connie Carlisle.

The family will receive visitors Friday, April 21, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Tuthill Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead, where funeral services will take place at 3:30 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Lawrence Duncklee. Cremation was private.
