Cops: Man shot during graduation party in Riverhead

A Flanders man was shot Saturday night during a graduation party in Riverhead, according to a police press release.

The Riverhead Town Police Department received a call from Peconic Bay Medical Center shortly before midnight when the victim, 37-year-old Travaum Brumsey, arrived with a gunshot wound, officials said. A hospital spokesperson said Mr. Brumsey was discharged Sunday morning.

Police confirmed the shooting took place at a graduation party on Fanning Street.

“The victim was uncooperative and requested no police action,” the release states.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

No other information was immediately available.
