Cops: Motorcyclist charged with DWI after hitting pedestrian in Riverhead

A motorcyclist was arrested on a drunken driving charge Monday night after hitting a pedestrian in the crosswalk at West Main Street and Griffing Avenue in Riverhead, according to a police press release.

Clarence Trent, 44, of Mastic was driving a 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle shortly before 8:20 p.m. when he crashed into Jacinto Anastacio Damian-Pu, 35, of Flanders, police said.

Mr. Damian-Pu suffered “serious injuries” and was treated at the scene by the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps, officials said. He was later airlifted to Stony Brook Medical Center “for treatment of non-life threatening injuries,” the release states.

Mr. Trent was charged with driving while intoxicated and held for an arraignment, police said.

No other details about the investigation were available.
