SWR track, cross country coaches honored by county legislator

Shoreham-Wading River High School cross country and track and field coaches Paul Koretzki and Bob Szymanski were honored by Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker for each being named a Coach of the Year by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association.

Anker presented the duo with proclamations for their work and dedication to the student-athletes. Koretzki, coach of the girls cross country and track teams, joined the school district in 1980. Szymanski, the boys cross-country coach, followed in 1981. Together they have 72 years of coaching experience and a combined 100 seasons of coaching cross country, winter track and spring track.

The duo was honored last year as the News-Review’s Sports People of the Year.
