‘Black History Bowl’ planned for Saturday in Flanders
The Butterfly Effect Project is seeking up to 10 teams of 10 people to compete in its first-ever Intergenerational Black History Bowl at the David W. Crohan Community Center in Flanders on Saturday, Feb. 17.
“Our goal is to bring awareness, diversity and good old-fashioned fun back into the homes and the community,” the group said in announcing the event, which will run from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Each team must be intergenerational and diverse. There’s no age limit, high or low, according to Tijuana Fulford, founder of The Butterfly Effect Project.
The cost to enter is $100 per team, which works out to $10 per player. Each team will designate a charity it is playing for, and the winning charity will receive $1,000.
The Butterfly Effect Project cannot be chosen as one of the charities, Ms. Fulford said.
“Our goal is to maybe help another charity out and highlight that charity,” she said.
The registration deadline was originally Feb. 3 but has been extended till noon on Feb. 17, Ms. Fulford said.
Upon receipt of the registration and payment, teams will be given a study guide for their group.
Cellphones are not allowed at the table and charities cannot be changed on the night of the event.

The Butterfly Effect Project is a nonprofit organization that seeks to empower young girls to become strong and independent.
Admission to the event is free for spectators and refreshments will be sold.
