Family IDs Ridge crash victims as Calverton woman, her adult children: report

Four members of a family were killed in the Valentine’s Day crash in Ridge when the driver of a stolen vehicle slammed into their car while driving at over 100 miles per hour, authorities said.

According to a report from Newsday, a family member identified one of the victims as Jackie McCoy, 55, of Calverton. Her adult children Anthony McCoy and MaryAlice Booker were also in the Mazda, along with Mr. McCoy’s girlfriend, Tameka Foster. Mr. McCoy and Ms. Foster had lived in Flanders, according to reports.

Members of their family did not immediately respond to requests for comment Saturday.

On Saturday morning, Suffolk County police declined to publicly identify the victims of the fiery crash, saying they had to be identified by the medical examiner’s office through dental records. They would only confirm that the victims were a mother, her adult children and a family friend.

They were killed when a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro that had been reported stolen hit their 2012 Mazda on Middle Country Road on Wednesday at about 11:20 a.m. The McCoys’ car then struck an Infiniti and caught fire.

The Camaro, which police said was driven by Jamel Turner, 23, of Bellport, struck an oil delivery truck. His passenger, whom police identified as Lonidell Skinner, 19, of Bellport, was ejected and killed.

Mr. Turner was injured, but survived. He was arrested on charges of false personation, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle in the second degree, criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree and reckless endangerment in the second degree. He pleaded not guilty at arraignment on Thursday and is being held on $600,000 cash bail or $1.2 million bond.

Charges will likely be upgraded.

As the families of victims prepare for four funerals, a GoFundMe page was put together in hopes to raise $30,000 to defray funeral costs.

“MaryAlice and Anthony will need to be transported to Virginia to be laid to rest and our mother will be laid to rest here on Long Island,” the organizer wrote.

Mr. McCoy and Ms. Foster have two young children and Ms. Booker is survived by a 17-year-old daughter, according to the page.

As of Saturday morning, $12,525 has been raised so far on the page.
