Riverhead Town Supe: Remove vehicles from the road during winter storm

Ahead of the winter storm that will begin Monday night, Riverhead Town officials are urging all residents to park their vehicles off the street.

Supervisor Laura Jens-Smith said in a statement early Monday afternoon that residents must remove their vehicles from the street so that snowplows can get to work clearing the snow.

A winter storm warning is in effect from Monday at 8 p.m. to Tuesday at 6 p.m. The National Weather Service said the North Fork could get 8 to 10 inches of snow before its over.

If you see anyone without shelter or that needs help, call the Riverhead Town Police Department at 631-727-4500.
