Michael A. Esposito

Former Riverhead resident Michael A. Esposito, 92, of Patchogue, died March 14 at Southampton Hospital. 

The son of Theresa (Pagano) and Luigi Esposito, he was born June 23, 1925, in Brooklyn.

Mr. Esposito served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946.

In 1983, Mr. Esposito ran for Riverhead Supervisor.

He was the owner of Mike’s Lounge, “Mike Esposito’s Restaurant” in Flanders and was a former restaurant association president.

Family members said Mr. Esposito sponsored many sports teams, including baseball, bowling, dart leagues, and womens’ softball teams. He also donated uniforms to the St. John’s track team.

Predeceased by his wife, Dorothy, in 2013, Mr. Esposito is survived by his son, Louis, and his granddaughter, Alexandra Mikaela Esposito.

The family will receive visitors Friday, March 16, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead. Inurnment with military honors will take place Monday, March 19, at Calverton National Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to gather at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m.
