Lawrence Taylor

Lawrence Taylor of Calverton died March 15 at the Kanas Center for Hospice in Quiogue. He was 86.

The son of Lawrence and Annette Taylor, he was born July 5, 1931, in Riverhead.

Mr. Taylor served in the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1953 and was a member of the Riverhead American Legion.

He was a 62-year member of the Riverhead Fire Department, a member of the Ironman Drill Team and an ex-captain of the Eagle Company. He was also a member of the Riverhead Polish Independence Club.

He worked as an electrician for Riverhead Town

Family members said he enjoyed golf, fishing, bowling and darts.

Predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Ovisniak and brother Thomas Taylor, Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Bertha (Pawluczyk), of Calverton; his children, Lawrence Jr. of Nevada and Barbara Youngs (Rick McRae); his brothers Robert, of Aquebogue and Raymond, of Riverhead and grandson, Bryan.

The family received visitors March 18 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service took place March 19 at St Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to East End Hospice.
