Jeffrey Stephen Shumejda

Jeffrey Stephen Shumejda of Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., died peacefully at home April 17, 2018, with his immediate family present. He was 69.

Jeffrey was born in Greenport, N.Y., to John and Helen Shumejda and grew up in Riverhead, N.Y. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susan; his daughters, Lauren and Elizabeth; and his sister, Patricia Borrelli.

Jeffrey was an attorney who began his legal career as a prosecutor with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. He later joined the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office and, in 1990, opened his own practice in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.  Following in his footsteps, both his daughters are now attorneys practicing in New York.

A celebration of Jeffrey’s life will be held Thursday, May 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Lodge at Hudson Harbor in Tarrytown, N.Y.
